University of Idaho alumni, faculty and staff and Junior Achievement (JA) are teaming up to impact our community! Sign up today to volunteer for “JA in a Day” on Monday, March 16, 2020.
What is Junior Achievement?
JA is a non-profit organization that utilizes community volunteers to deliver lessons in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness to K-12 students across Idaho. They develop all of the curriculum and provide it free of charge to schools. The curriculum requires that volunteer mentors deliver the content so students can hear a new perspective from the community. This is a group effort that we could not do without the help of amazing volunteers.
Apply your skills and knowledge to benefit local students
As a volunteer for JA, you would be responsible for delivering five lessons to a single classroom of students (likely with the help of a fellow volunteer). Rest assured, you don’t have to be an expert to become a classroom volunteer because JA provides an in-depth training and all of the materials you’ll need to successfully deliver these lessons. All you need is the enthusiasm to bring these lessons to life and the availability to spend the day engaging with students in our community.
A unique opportunity to get involved
Typically, the five JA lessons are spread out over the course of multiple weeks, but we are hosting a special event at Christine Donnell School of the Arts on March 16, 2020 where we will do all five lessons in one day. At this event, each classroom will have designated JA volunteers so that by the end of the day we can confidently say that every student at Christine Donnell received JA programs. This unique format allows you to really get to know the students and spend the day educating them in vital skills. It is also a great opportunity to work alongside your fellow University of Idaho alumni to impact students.
